ICOBOL 4 Releases

Interactive COBOL Revision 4.54
(December 13, 2011)

 

Revision 4.54 is the latest update to the ICOBOL 4 product. The 4.5x revisions contain enhancements to our thinclient client and server with significantly faster network response. We enhaced the Integrated SQL support and we added a new client/server component for Integrated SQL optimize the workload between client and server. This release also includes a number of bug fixes, updated SP2 components, minor enhancements, and the addition of MAC Address licensing on the Apple Mac OS X and IBM AIX platforms. The runtime now includes the Watch and IC2X options without requiring them as an add-on license feature, and it can automatically detect IC2X mode from the first program that is run. Previous Releases

Revision 4.4x added several new intrinsic functions to the COBOL language and also added a heartbeat feature to the Client/Server File Access component to provide better detection of dropped network connections. See the Release Notes for more information and additional helpful details.

Revision 4.3x introduced our release for the Apple Mac OS X (x86) platform as well as a number of bug fixes, updated SP2 components, and minor enhancements. See the Release Notes for more information and additional helpful details.

Revisions 4.10 and up provide support for creating report files directly in .pdf format. The system configuration utility provides the ability to define custom page layouts that specify such parameters as the font, paper size, margins, and even a background image. The image can be as simple as a company letterhead or as sophisticated as a custom preprinted form. The configuration also allows the .pdf to replicate each page multiple times to simulate printing on multi-part paper. The PDF feature is a licensed add-on feature to the ICOBOL runtime license. Revision 4.xx (ICOBOL 4) was a new major revision of the Interactive COBOL product line that brought together runtime support for both ICOBOL 3 and the much older ICOBOL 2. This results in an unprecedented upward compatibility in program code with the ability to run programs dating back over 20 years. At the same time, ICOBOL 4 is a forward looking revision that incorporates an improved infrastructure for today's ever more sophisticated client-server computing. We have added features to improve data integrity and security. At the same time, we have once again incrementally added features that help your application work better with the many other applications that are part of today's operating environment.

Interactive COBOL Revision 3.67 (March 3, 2009)

The 3.67 release provided a number of updates to our thinclient, SP2, and QPR components and the documentation set. It was focused on providing a very stable, up-to-date release to wrap out the ICOBOL 3 versions.

Support for ICOBOL 3 ended in December, 2009, but ICOBOL 3.67 can still be downloaded from our Archive page.
